The last couple of days have been what I would call a test of character. Riding in those
amazing parks with great weather was so exciting. However, that has changed. The rain
which was just missing us, finally caught up. Conditions have been cold (under 40F),windy
and rainy. This resulting in tense riding, less miles and no photo taking.
We're not complaining because of how fortunate we have been up to now enjoying most
of the Rockies. The Rocky Mountains being pure "TETONIC ARTISTRY". The country
we're riding through now is beautiful, though hard to see with rain splattered windshields!
This part of the ride is smaller rolling mountains with a lot more foliage and much greener.
Supposedly heavy in wildlife but we have seen little. Which is good considering the conditions.
This part of Canada being heavily forested, is known for it's lumber. A lot of logging trucks
and sawmills.
The other big industry up here is oil/natural gas. Most of the towns along this route exist because of these resources. It just so happens that this is their slow season for oil/gas. This is because of the wet soft
conditions in the field. The companies need the ground frozen to bring in the heavy rigs to work.
Being the off season is makes obtaining lodging easier.
We're doing well and making progress. Sunday we managed 390 miles, from Jasper AB to Fort
St. John BC. Monday was miserable with heavier rain and high winds but we squeezed out 240
miles. Fort St. John to Fort Nelson.
Anyway not much else to tell. We have until Saturday to get to Anchorage, aye. This is when
the family will meet us for a week of sightseeing. The next couple of days will be more of the same.
Mark
Thing of note;
-Gas is around 4$ a gallon US
-The bikes have burned 5 ounces of oil each so far.
-We passed 3000 miles for the trip today.
-We've scored a roll away bed every night so far. No spooning!!!!!!!
-The bikes are filthy dirty
-Things are expensive
-Posts are going to slow down. Your getting bored and it's cutting into our socializing!
Answers to some comments;
-Yes, there really is a Dawson Creek
-Yes we are interjecting the word "aye" in our speech.
-Maybe Whitehorse Yukon for a much deserved break.
-Kirstin the Skydiver aye, you go girl!
-Kelly, "your dad is a bear".
-Colorado, I hear your mountains are kind of nice too. haha
-Alberta beef is delicious.
-Willy, Scot, Shane, thanks for being with us and staying in touch.

Don't you leave the blogging - we are living vicariously through the 3 of you - it's making our summers!
Nick has not written yet, because he is so busy taking care of his 2 princess's. That is a tough job, as you guys know. We are quickly running out of bon-bons!
I'm not surprised by the weather and really wanted you guys to be able to test out that raingear. It would have been a shame if you had to go to a do-it-yourself carwash in order to test the welded seams.
Sharon
Ditto about the blogging. Hang in there guys, your sunshine will be meeting up with you on Saturday. Careful on those roads.
Patty
That warning sign for bears should read "Stay in your vehicle if you are driving a car, if you are driving a HOG than hop on it and hall some ass"!!
Looks like the weather should clear up in the next couple of days, temps in the mid 60's-70, that is about 20 degrees C (I paid a little more attention in school than Mark)! Just kidding, although it does support the Lane Tech vs. Gordon Tech theory....
It looks like you have about 7-800 miles to Anchorage and five days to do it so enjoy, take your time and enjoy the scenery, even if that includes looking at the back end of Joe's bike!
Safe travels and congratulations on the 3000 mile milestone, AYE!!
Scot
Look at it this way, a rainy day is a good day to do laundry and you won't feel bad about missing an otherwise beautiful day.
Patty your right, the real sunshine is coming on Saturday. I hope that van is big enough for all of us, our luggage and my hairdryer.
I think if Tommy sees a bear he could easily outrun it (bike or no bike). Remember your bear bell.
Mark, more pics of you please !!! Great job with the blog...
And, Joe I love you and see you soon.
Mark & Tom,
Almost forgot: In case you didn't get the news up in the Great White North, the Chicago White Sox are in 1ST place, Joe give them hell!!
Safe travels,
Scot
Socialize hell,,,,what are ya gonna do, talk to a moose??? Keep on bloggin',,,checking it daily to make sure Tom hasn't gotten out of line. I'm now regretting my second decision of not meeting up with you guys along the way, but I know I would never be referred to as "Sunshine", as your darling brides certainly are!! Joe,,,taking my nephew Jim and his wife Mary Cate, who just moved back here from Philly, to the game Sunday,,,If you catch crap about someone wearing a Shane Victorino jersey at Wrigley, that someone would be Mary Cate. I'll be three seats away,,,minimum!!
I'm jealous. Hell, if I were alive I'd be really jealous!
I didn't do nothing. Just kidding, causing trouble. The house is still in one piece, yet unfortunately still have not gotten the chance to mow:( Excited to be in Alaska soon, especially for the cousine which sounds interesting. See ya Saturday.
Love,
Nick
If you guys think I'm going to eat that deer, moose, bear or whatever sausage sandwich that Sharon is talking about your crazy.I don't care if it was on Diners, Dives and Drive-ins.
Sounds like you are outnumbered and will have to keep up with the blogging! We love it! Be safe and keep loving what you are doing. You guys are so lucky! Hey, how about coming home this way through the rockies. We have beds for all 3!
Take care guys, Michael and Carol
So glad that you guys are living your dream. Absolutely beautiful!
You don't have to jive us about the spooning, man. Jack Nicholson and I had to spoon each other all the time when we were filming the campfire scenes in the desert. It was a trip.
Tom, I just found out we could follow you on your adventure! Great pictures thus far!! We hope everything is going well! Will stay in touch!

Joe, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. C-U-soon. Love, Sue
Uncle Tom,
I'm having fun following you! Let's have a ride when you get back!
Love,
Ryan
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE! I'm sure you won't be celebrating and wouldn't even dream of getting yourself something nice.
Brooke & John
Happy Birthday, Joe!! We'll all have to celebrate when we get there.
Patty
Weather in Anchorage looks pretty good over the weekend and early next week. Upper 60's sounds good compared to the 100+ heat index here the past few days. Sure hope you all have a great time up there when you get together. Give the boys a manly chest bump when you see them,,,I'd say a hug, but that would just be wrong ;)
Hi Bro, Tom and Joe,
Awesome kinda sums it up! Glad all is going well and love the pictures and post's. What a wonderful time for the 3 of you. Enjoy the visit from the family and kepp up the blogging.
Love ya,
Sis #2
