Whitefish to Fairmont

As you can see from the pictures in the previous post, the park was incredible! The only
downside of the whole ride was some construction. They are doing a good job fixing up some
bad road and eroded areas. If any of you are future visitors,it should be smooth sailing.

After departing the park out of the west gate, we preceded to get something to eat and
check out the town of Whitefish. The town came about and developed due to it's proximity
with the railroad over 100 years ago. Today the town is home to the Big Mountain ski resort
and caters to the adventure sports crowd. The old main street area is fixed up nicely,
complete with various trendy shops and boutiques. We ate and lodged in the old downtown area
and ended up doing a park festival when early evening came around. Then we ran into Bob and
Jeff, two bikers from the Chicagoland area that we met the day before. It turned into a night
to remember, sitting on an outside patio at our favorite saloon, we shared stories for hours.

The next morning everybody slept in, "I wonder why". Eventually the bikes got packed, a quick
call to Kelly (Tom's beautiful daughter) to wish her happy birthday and off to Canada. Up
route 93 for 50 miles to the border crossing. No problems there except for Joe trying to
smuggle in duck feathers.

The ride in Canada was more of the same old spectacular views of the Rockies!

Just happened to stumble onto a resort for lodging, The Fairmont Hot Spring Resort
overlooking the Fairmont mountain range. I know, I know, but the warm pools helped heal
our achy bodies. Dined with an older couple from the Edmonton area, Stan and his sweet wife, and learned alot about the resort. It seems this little hideaway is very popular and cherished in this part of the
world. Lucked out again!!!!!!!

Tomorrow up to Banff!
